Open Minds has celebrated the first birthday of Lismore Head to Health and its support for the Northern Rivers community during the past year.
The team have been proudly providing mental health services through the centre and continue to see an increase in people accessing support.
Open Minds Chief Executive Officer, Kate Johnson said the success of Lismore Head to Health reflects both the needs of the community and the dedication of our skilled team.
“We recognise the demand for easier access to mental health support for people living in Lismore and surrounding communities,” said Kate.
“Open Minds remains focused in its mission to provide a safe and welcoming space for individuals experiencing distress. Our strong partnerships with the Healthy North Coast, Southern Cross University, the Local Health District teams, The Buttery AOD and other services will ensure the ongoing success of this much–needed service.”
The birthday event for Lismore Head to Health, held in December, brought members of the community and local stakeholders together and featured a welcome smoking ceremony from Widjabul Wia-bal man, Uncle Gilbert.
For the team at Open Minds, it was a great opportunity to foster relationships and share stories of success from the hundreds of individuals who have so far accessed support.
Head to Health makes mental health advice, assessment and treatment more accessible for all Australians. This service requires no referral and is free to people over 18 years.
