Kids groups at Open Minds Mental Health Hub

We are now running some exciting groups for kids at the Open Minds Mental Health Hub at Morayfield. Your children can join two groups: “Kids Connect” – working through challenging behaviours and building new skills, or “Understanding Me” – all about understanding emotions and reactions.

“Kids connect” group

This program is designed to support children who have challenging behaviours with skill building through fun activities and basic games.

Kids connect group may be right for your child if they’re between 7-11 years old and struggle with:

• Problems with sharing
• Turn taking
• Waiting & Listening
• Problem solving
• Resolving conflict
• Cooperating

How much is it? With a mental health care plan your child will be eligible for a rebate. If they do not have a plan, please speak with the Health Hub Doctors Morayfield or your GP.

When is it? The program runs for six weeks, four times a year, during each school term.

“Understanding Me” program

This program is designed to support children to understand their thoughts, emotions, reactions, and strategies for coping.

Understanding me may be right for your child if they’re between 7-11 years old. It uses a range of therapeutic activities and games to show children how they can manage their behaviours and reactions.

• Mindfulness
• Relaxation
• Breathing
• Understanding triggers
• Exploring emotions
• Ways to cope

How much is it? With a mental health care plan your child will be eligible for a rebate. If they do not have a plan, please speak with the Health Hub Doctors Morayfield or your GP.

When is it? The program runs for six weeks, four times a year, during each school term.
