headspace Taringa relocates to Indooroopilly

The Open Minds operated headspace Taringa, one of the busiest headspace centres, has relocated to a larger premises in Indooroopilly and has been renamed to headspace Indooroopilly.

In order to keep up with growing demand from young people with mild to moderate mental illness, headspace Taringa has relocated to a larger premises nearby.

The new site at 17 Station Road, Indooroopilly is closer to public transport and Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, offering clients convenience and better access.

In line with the relocation, headspace Taringa has also been renamed to headspace Indooroopilly.

headspace regional manager, Jamie Thompson, said: “The Taringa centre had expanded over the past four years, but due to a limited number of consultation spaces we were unable to recruit additional practitioners to meet demand. Indooroopilly has 20 consultation rooms, an increase from just 12 rooms at Taringa.”

Projections indicate the new centre will have capacity for 12,500 consultations a year—a significant increase from a capacity of 7,500 at Taringa.

The new centre opened its doors to young people on Monday 14th February 2022.

The new premises has additional office space for Open Minds service delivery team to also move across to the new site.

26% of young people aged 0 to 17 years in Brisbane north region are estimated to have a mental health condition, hence the need for the larger premises.
