Some have lost majority of their customer base, while others have had to, unfortunately, close their doors.

Businesses on the NSW and QLD border are feeling the pinch with the total segregation of their usual customers.

In the spirit of giving back, looking out for and being kind to those around you, it’s important we continue supporting local businesses through these unstable moments.

Some businesses—including cafes and restaurants—are offering delivery or online deals. Take advantage of these and help out your favourite lunch spot.

If the business can’t trade all together, check out their website or social media to purchase merchandise or gift cards to ease them through these times.

going around. Now is your chance to make someone’s day by being kind to them and, in turn, yourself.

Look out for your fellow man

Do not attach the spread or infection of COVID-19 to any ethnicity or nationality.

Be empathetic to those who get affected, in and from any country.

Follow the guidelines, rules and restrictions put in place by the National and Federal Government.

Take notice of how other people are feeling and reacting to the current situation—demonstrate emotional agility with your surrounding community.

Be guided by your core values

Have you been relying on what is most meaningful to you through the pandemic?

Your core values are your beliefs and fundamental principles. You abide by them every day, even if you don’t know it.

If you’ve been disconnected from your core values during this time, finding your way back in the midst of disruption is an act of true self-care.

Conversely, if you notice your friends and family acting irregular then perhaps you can guide them back to realign with their core values.

Delivering and savouring gratitude

Gratitude is the process of appreciating the things others have done for you and vice versa.

This relationship-building mechanic aims to improve wellbeing by focusing on what you have rather than what you don’t.

Small and simple acts of kindness to others is a perfect way of expressing gratitude.

Saying ‘thank you’ when you go through the checkout, texting a friend or family member, wishing someone a nice day or smiling at someone as you pass by are just some of the ways you can deliver gratitude.

By delivering that one small act of gratitude, you could have vastly improved someone’s day. In turn, how does that make you feel?

Additionally, acting genuine in your delivery will not only make you feel better, but inspire others to do the same.
