Open Minds partners with Doctors on Demand

Open Minds have partnered with Doctors on Demand to provide a private, safe, and secure environment for virtual video consultations with qualified practitioners.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on all our lives, not only with the way we live, but on the mental health of an increasing number of Australians who are struggling with isolation and stress.

The Australian Government’s Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Mental Health, Dr Ruth Vine, has recognised the impact that COVID-19 may be having on our mental health and well-being.

For some Australians, the restrictions governments have rightly put in place to combat COVID-19 have been a catalyst for relationships to be strengthened and reaffirmed, including developing new ways to work together. We have seen the renewal and importance of reaching out and being socially connected even while we are physically separated.

However, for many of us, while physical distancing is helping to prevent people from contracting the Coronavirus, it has also created other problems, including isolation, loneliness and anxiety” she said.

The benefits of good mental health are many and far reaching. Good mental health is a goal worth seeking. Doctors on Demand has partnered with Open Minds to provide a private, safe, and secure environment for virtual video consultations with qualified practitioners.

Through our online mental health services, Open Minds clinicians are just a click away, to help Australians through their mental health journey, and we are pleased to be offering these services through Doctors on Demand.

The ease of being able to book an appointment and speak to a mental health practitioner, all from the comfort of your home at this time is reassuring.

We know that some of our patients may be worried about venturing out and into our consulting rooms, and this partnership with Doctors on Demand means people can continue to look after their mental health without being concerned about being in public places.

It is also a wonderful opportunity for those who juggle work and home life to take some time when it is convenient, without having to add precious travel and parking time to their appointment” said Open Minds CEO, Paula Mayson.

Booking your mental health consultation is easy using the Doctors on Demand platform, and from 28 July, Doctors on Demand Mental Health services can be claimed on Medicare for eligible patients.

If you feel that you are experiencing heightened levels of anxiety and stress, there is support available to you.  Whilst it may seem hard to focus on your well-being and mental health at this time, the earlier you seek help, the better you are able to stay mentally healthy.

If you are in an emergency situation or need immediate assistance, contact mental health services or emergency services on 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14.
