National Reconciliation Week commemorates two milestones: the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision. Find out what events are taking place in your local area to celebrate National Reconciliation Week between 27 May – 3 June 2019.

Below is a list of events happening around Queensland and Northern New South Wales, to celebrate our Indigenous heritage and culture. The campaign for this year is “Grounded on Truth: Walk Together with Courage” and it’s all about fostering positive race relations through realtionships that are grounded in truth.

Australians are ready to come to terms with our history as a crucial step towards a unified future, in which we understand, value and respect each other.

To achieve reconciliation, we need to develop strong relationships built on trust and respect, and that are free of racism. This requires that we understand and value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture, rights and experiences.

So why not go along to your nearest community event and learn something new this National Reconciliation Week?
