Deadline extended for QLD Mental Health Week Achievement Awards!

Due to popular demand, the deadline to submit a nomination for the Queensland Mental Health Week Achievement Awards has been extended by one week until Monday 9th September 2019.

The Queensland Mental Health Week Achievement Awards have been an Annual Flagship event for Mental Health Week since 1996, to recognise and celebrate the achievements of those working to reduce stigma and empower those living with mental illnesses.

Due to popular demand, the deadline to submit a nomination has been extended by one week until Monday 9th September!

Our categories available this year are:

Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Award (NEW for 2019!)

For any individuals or organisation that demonstrates a commitment to improving the life of Queenslanders who are Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and living with mental illness. They can do this through the provision of culturally appropriate mental health related services, programs, projects or initiatives, and their work must promote social inclusion and participation. 

Early Years Award (NEW for 2019!)

For any organisations that focus on supporting the best start for young Queenslanders (children and/or parents) from conception through to infancy (up to four years of age). Programs, workshops, peer supports or services should have a goal of reducing or eliminating the effects of mental illness and a commitment to improving the lives of young people through happier and healthier families.

Jude Bugeja – Peer Experience Award

Open to any individual or group who through their direct experience with mental illness demonstrates a significant contribution to improving the lives of people with mental illness and their families and/or carers. 

Jeff Cheverton Individual Award

Open to any individual who has made an outstanding contribution to mental health in Queensland through their commitment to improving the life of Queenslanders living with mental illness and by promoting social inclusion and participation.

Not-For-Profit – Small to Medium Enterprise (1-100 staff)

Open to any organisation that through the provision of mental health related services, programs, projects or initiatives demonstrates a commitment to improving the quality of life of Queenslanders living with mental illness and by promoting social inclusion and participation.

Not-For-Profit – Large Enterprise (101+ staff)

Open to any organisation that through the provision of mental health related services, programs, projects or initiatives demonstrates a commitment to improving the quality of life of Queenslanders living with mental illness and by promoting social inclusion and participation. 

Workplace Award – Small to Medium Enterprise (1-200 staff)

Open to any employer who through the implementation of innovative work practices or initiatives has demonstrated excellence in the promotion of positive mental health to all employees and supports the inclusion of employees living with mental health issues. 

Workplace Award Large Enterprise (201+ staff)

Open to any employer who through the implementation of innovative work practices or initiatives has demonstrated excellence in the promotion of positive mental health to all employees and supports the inclusion of employees living with mental health issues. 

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Award

Open to any individual or organisation that through the provision of culturally specific mental health related services, programs, projects or initiatives demonstrates a commitment to improving the life of Queenslanders who are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and living with mental illness, and by promoting social inclusion and participation. 

LGBTI Award

Open to any individual or organisation that through the provision of mental health related services, programs, projects or initiatives demonstrates a commitment to improving the life of Queenslanders who are LGBTI and living with mental illness, and by promoting social inclusion and participation.  

The Awards – Key Dates

  • Monday 9 September 2018 – Nominations close at midnight. The judging period will take place from the 9 September to 23 September 2019.
  • Friday 28 September 2019 – Finalists and non-finalists notified, tickets on sale
  • Friday 11 October 2019 – the Awards Breakfast takes place, at the Ithaca Auditorium in Brisbane City Hall
