Open Minds welcomes new CEO

The Board of Open Minds is delighted to announce the appointment of Paula Mayson as the new Chief Executive Officer of Open Minds.

Paula has spent 20 years in Australia, Asia, North America and Europe working in leadership roles with medium to large multi-national, publicly listed and For-Purpose organisations across multiple sectors.

Most recently, she was the Executive Lead of the Better Together program at Diabetes Queensland in NSW/ACT and, prior to that, was Chief Operating Officer at Endeavour Foundation.

Passionate about ensuring that mental health and disability support services are inclusive and diverse, Paula will drive a far-reaching new strategic direction for Open Minds, focused on expanding our high-quality services and securing growth opportunities.

Louise Cox, Chair of the Open Minds Board, said: “We are immensely grateful for the leadership of Peter Anderson, who will continue doing a wonderful job as Acting CEO until we welcome Paula on 22nd July. We are very excited about what lies ahead for Open Minds and we thank our staff for their hard work, ongoing commitment and enthusiasm.

“The Board has challenged Paula as CEO to drive a far-reaching new strategic direction, focused on expanding our high-quality services and programs and securing growth opportunities which in turn will deliver a sustainable financial outcome.”

Paula said: “I am delighted to be appointed as the new CEO of Open Minds.  I’m very much looking forward to leading the organisation into the final phases of the NDIS transition.  I am passionate about ensuring that our customers and clients are being provided with the best quality of care for people living with mental illness and disabilities across Queensland and Northern New South Wales.”

In addition to the appointment of a new CEO, Open Minds has also recently reinvigorated our Board with some quality people. Peter Maher, Ian Maynard, Rowena McNally and Elissa Morris were appointed in April and May, and Rick Dennis will join the Board next month.

All five new Directors have extensive management and governance experience, and we welcome their skills and fresh ideas. You can read more about their expertise here.
