BBQ and Fishing Group – Birkdale

Join us for a day of fishing and having a fun BBQ in Birkdale! We’ll be meeting at Aquatic Paradise Park West, 4 Commodore Drive. If you’d like to get involved, contact Caroline on [email protected]. Only open the Open Minds service users.

Women’s Group – Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre – every Monday

This group allows women to connect and gain a deeper understanding of body image, self care, socialising, relationships, and more. We guide you to create a journal to collect notes about your physical and mental health. We also discuss ways to cope with stress and resolve conflict in your relationships. This group runs on Mondays at the Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre from 1pm – 3pm. To get involved, RSVP to [email protected], 0488191232. RSVPs are essential, only available to clients of Open Minds.

Public Music Group – every Wednesday – Wynnum

Show your musical creativity by joining the Music Group every Wednesday from 10:00 – 12:00 midday at the Wynnum Bandstand, 55 Lower Esplanade, Manly QLD 4179. If you have an instrument you can bring this along, but it’s not essential, you can still make music without it. No need to RSVP and no need to be a client of Open Minds, everyone is welcome to just turn up! 

School of Rock Public Music Program- every Thursday – Capalaba

Show your musical creativity by joining our fun Music Program in partnership with Bayside Initiatives Group (BIG), from 10:00am – 12:00pm every Thursday. Everyone who experiences mental illness is welcome to attend this free event (in addition to Open Minds clients). Basic instruments provided, however feel free to bring your own. Address is Unit 8/37 Veronica St, Capalaba, 4157. RSVP to [email protected], 0490 127 859 or [email protected] 0491 051 922.

Friendship Day – every Wednesday from 10am – 2pm – Caboolture 

A fun and easy way to meet new people and make new friends! Build communication skills, have a chat with like-minded people, and practice the skills you need to form healthy friendships. Each Wednesday between 10 – 2, we take part in a different activity together. We meet outside the Caboolture Library. If you’d like to join, RSVP to [email protected], 0488191232. RSVPs are essential, only available to clients of Open Minds.

‘Getting on Track’ group sessions – Morayfield – Tuesdays between 1-2pm

‘Getting on Track’ group sessions are running at the Open Minds Mental Health Hub at Morayfield, and are facilitated by a Mental Health Clinician. They are designed to be fun, light-hearted, interactive and provide a safe environment for sharing of experiences while you’re waiting for your appointment. With a mental health care plan you will be eligible for a rebate. Kids Groups at Morayfield – Every Tuesday

Do you have a child with challenging behaviours, or that needs some help understanding their thoughts, emotions and reactions? Our kids groups might be right for them. Find out more about the kids groups available at the Open Minds Mental Health Hub at Morayfield here.

The Connection Crew peer support – North Lakes & Annerley

Join this safe and supportive environment to meet new people and share your experience and your recovery journey! We will meet i two locations, North Lakes on Tuesday 7th and 21st May from 12:30am – 2:00pm, and in Annerley on Monday 13th and 27th May from 10:30am – 12:pm. RSVP to [email protected] if you’re interested in joining. This event is available to both Clients of Open Minds and the general public. 

Fishing Group – Tweed Heads – Thursdays at 10am

This fishing group is for Open Minds HASI and CLS clients who want to get out into nature, socialise with like-minded people, and catch some fish. Held every Thursday at 10am in various locations in Tweed Heads, we provide rods and equipment. We ask for a gold coin donation to go towards buying bait. If you’re interested in finding out more, get in touch with Sally on [email protected].

Farm group – Byron Bay – Tuesdays 10am – 12pm

Open to clients of Open Minds only, come along to learn all-round agriculture skills through planting, weeding, and watching things grow. The Byron Bay Farm donated a plot of land to the local homeless shelter, Liberation Larder, to enable them to grow fruit and vegetables to feed the homeless. Open Minds volunteers by tending to the plot every Tuesday from 10am – 12pm. If you’re interested in joining, contact Craig on [email protected].

Walking group – Tweed – Wednesdays from 9.30am

The walking group goes from Field Barrie Park in Murwillumbah and is Open to Open Minds clients only. We walk for 1 hour and cater for all different fitness levels. If you’re interested in joining, contact Nicole on [email protected]. Please note that this group is only open for Open Minds services users. 

chime Morning Tea – every other Tuesday 9am – 12 midday – Sunshine Coast

If you are a chime participant at our Nambour office, you are welcome to attend our morning teas every other week. Get together with like-minded, friendly people to get socially connected, and learn the skills you need to build your confidence in the community. Our morning teas this month will take place on the 7th and 21st May. Only open to existing Open Minds chime participants on the Sunshine Coast. If you’re interested in joining please contact [email protected].

Arts, Crafts and Board Games – Capalaba – Fridays 12 – 1.30pm

Come and enjoy yourself by playing fun board games or creating some arts and crafts whilst meeting new friends. Board games and arts and crafts equipment provided. We meet at Capalaba Library at 12 every Friday. If you’d like to join, please RSVP to the Open Minds Capalaba Office on 3900 3444. This event is only open for Open Minds services users. Please note that this workshop won’t run on 19th April (public holiday).
